Harry Potter fans wondering what it is like to attend Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will soon have their chance to find out. "Magic for Muggles: A Harry Potter Experience" will be held on the Ferrum College campus this Saturday, November 1, 2003. The event will include discussions, crafts, classes, and a screening of the movie Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets . Sessions will be offered to three age groups: Pre-Hogwarts (under 11 years), Hogwarts (11-18 years), and Hogwarts Alumni (adults). Registration is from 8:45 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. in Franklin Hall. The admission fee for "Magic for Muggles" is $7.50 for ages under 18, $10 for 18 and older, and $5 with a valid Ferrum ID. Admission price does not include lunch. Harry Potter fans wondering what it is like to attend Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry will soon have their chance to find out. “Magic for Muggles: A Harry Potter Experience” will be held on the Ferrum College campus on November 1, 2003. The event will include discussions, crafts, classes, and a screening of the movie Harry Potter & The Sorcerer’s Stone. Sessions will be offered to the three age groups: Pre-Hogwarts (under 11 years), Hogwarts (11-17 years), and Post-Hogwarts (adults). Highlights include a “Potions Lesson” with “Severus Snape” and a “Care of Magical Creatures” class for the younger Harry Potter fans, as well as lectures for adults from some contributors to Dr. Lana Whited’s book The Ivory Tower and Harry Potter: Perspective on a Literary Phenomenon (University of Missouri Press, 2002). There will also be an opportunity for the groups to join together to discuss Harry Potter. A traditional British tea, featuring a costume parade where people can show off their best Harry Potter and fellow character outfits, will follow morning and afternoon sessions. In the evening, there will be a discussion following the viewing of one of the Harry Potter movies.
