Delia Heck

Dr. Heck earned her BS in Regional Development from the University of Arizona and her Masters and PhD in Economic Geography from the University of Washington. Dr. Heck has been teaching at Ferrum College for 17 years including courses in Environmental Planning and Development, Physical Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Natural Resource Management, Natural Resource Policy and Economics and Mico- and Macroeconomics. She is currently the Director of the Environmental Science programs and Co-Director of Ferrum College’s Quality Enhancement Plan: Critical Thinking for Success. Dr. Heck’s research interests include energy policy & economics and water quality. Her community research includes being the Associate Director of the Smith Mountain Lake Water Quality Monitoring Program. Her work with the project is focused on using GIS mapping to present water quality data to the public and project management.
