Dr. Thomas is Professor of Environmental Science and Biology and Program Coordinator for Biology and Medical Technology. She has served Ferrum College since 1979.
Her teaching areas include aquatic ecology, environmental engineering, and microbiology. She specializes in ecological studies of lakes and mountain streams, and is co-director of the Water Quality Program at Smith Mountain Lake, the Water Quality Program at Claytor Lake, and the Boater and Marina Education Program at Smith Mountain Lake.
Dr. Thomas has received an Exemplary Teaching Award given by the United Methodist Church and Conservationist of the Year given by the Soil and Water Conservation District.
