Danny An:
From South Korea.
A few years ago, Ferrum College and the Annandale United Methodist Church in Annandale,
Virginia jointly established a unique program of study at Ferrum College for students
from South Korea.
An is the first participant of the Ferrum College/Annandale Church Program.
He came to the U.S.A. in 1999 and stayed with his host family in Annandale
for a couple of months to improve his English and to get used to the American culture.
The following year, he entered Ferrum College as regular a full-time student.
As a good Christian, he is currently in the Rescue Mission team.
An's interests include bodybuilding and christian music.
His major is Pre-Professional Science. An is targeted to graduate in December 2004.

Mina Ayob
From Afghanistan
The Director of International Programs, Professor Saari, proposed granting
a full scholarship for four years to a female Afghan student in 2001.
The college approved her proposal and Ayob was chosen to come to Ferrum College.
How did Ferrum find her? Ferrum Professor Wayne Bowman had an Afghan/American friend
whose journalist brother was planning to visit Afghanistan after 9/11.
Mr. Tamim Ansary agreed to seek a candidate for the scholarship while he was in Afghanistan.
He later recalled that Ayob was extremely nervous when he interviewed her, but he was convinced
that she could meet the challenge.
She had studied English secretly for two years under the Taliban regime.
Many people, from campus and from off campus, have helped her with improving her language
skills and adjusting to the American culture.
Her major is Pre-Professional science and Ayob is targeted to graduate in 2006.
Her dream is to be a doctor, so that she can help her people.

Jin Han
From South Korea
Han is the second participant of the Ferrum College/Annandale Church program.
He attended Korea University for 3 semesters and transferred to Ferrum College
when he was a sophomore.
Han has been named to the Dean's List every semester since his arrival at Ferrum College.
During the Spring semester of 2004, he is acting as assistant to the Director of International Programs.
Han's interests include skydiving and music.
His major is International Studies and he is targeted to graduate in May 2004.

Neil Hobson
From Northern Ireland
Hobson is an exchange student from Northern Ireland under the British Education Initiative program.
Hobson says that he likes to be at Ferrum where he plays soccer with his roommate, Mario.
He is focusing on business and computer science courses and will return to his country
after this semester.

Caroline Kerrigan
From Northern Ireland
Kerrigan is another exchange student from Northern Ireland. Her major is English and Media.
She has been playing basketball since she was 13 years old.
Kerrigan has many very good American friends at Ferrum College.
Also, she roomed last semester with Jai Kim, a Fall semester exchange student from South Korea.
She plans to attend graduate school.

Anna Korshakova
From Russia
In 1993, Ferrum College established its own exchange student program with an institution in Pskov, Russia.
Through this program, Ferrum College welcomes an exchange student every semester
from the Pskov Pedagogical Institute in Pskov.
Korshakova was chosen for the last semester. After her first semester at
Ferrum, she was invited to stay Spring semester.
She petitioned her home institution to stay an extra semester and eventually got approved by
her the institution.
Her major is English and she is going back to Russia in May.

Mina Lee
From South Korea
Lee is an exchange student from Sejong University, South Korea. Through an agreement with
Sejong University, Ferrum College regularly has 2-3 exchange students from Sejong University
each academic year.
She is one of the two exchange students for this semester, Spring 2004.
When Lee was 5 years old, she came to the U.S.A. with her family.
She spent much of her childhood (8 years) in New Jersey and went back to Korea
before she entered high school.
She speaks such fluent English that Sejong University granted her admission with only
her TOEFL, Test of English as a Foreign Language, score.
She is planning to continue her studying in graduate school.
She is targeted to graduate Sejong University in July 2005.
Her goal is to be a professor at a college.

Yayoi Nagasaki
From Japan
Nakagawa is the only Japanese on this campus. She is a sophomore, majoring in Psychology.
She attended special high school for music.
During high school period, she was chosen to study one year in Australia
as an exchange student.
Her academic achievement is so great that she was on the Dean's List last semester.
During last year's International Week, she had her own Piano Recital, supervised by Dr. Rose.

GeeHyun Park (Sunny Park)
From South Korea
Park is another exchange student from Sejong University with Mina Lee. Her major is
English Language and Literature.
With her family, she came to the U.S. when she was an elementary school student and spent three
years in New Jersey.
She wants to be an English teacher when she goes back to Korea.
She is targeted to graduate Sejong University in July 2005.
