A WORD FROM THE DIRECTOR
Welcome to the Boone Honors Program WebPages.

A general outline of the Boone Honors Program can be found in the College catalogue. This on-line guide with handbook has specific policies and news related to the program. If you are a student currently enrolled in the Honors Program, the handbook has the policies that are presently in effect and a listing of some resources available to help you reach your full potential. The newsletter page includes news and pictures from program activities as well as opportunities for involvement and service.

If you are a prospective student thinking about enrolling in Honors at Ferrum, I extend a special warm welcome. I hope these pages entice you to consider joining this new venture at the college (the freshman class entering in fall 2001 is the first class in the honors program). Honors students are a community of intellectually curious individuals who are willing to be challenged both inside and outside of courses in order to reach their full potential. Besides the academic opportunities of participating in the program (including enhanced writing, speaking, and analytical skills), benefits include friendships with faculty and other students from across the college who may share similar interests and passions, chances to examine and clarify values and ideals, having stimulating and broadening cultural experiences, and getting a head start on preparing for graduate school or one's career.

I welcome the opportunity to visit with you if you have questions about the program or want to talk more about what being a student in the Honors Program at Ferrum entails. Please call me (540-365-4334), e-mail me (lwhited@ferrum.edu), or stop by my office in Britt 200.
