Estate Planning Council
The Ferrum College Estate Planning Council (EPC) is a group of respected professionals who provide valuable external input on up-to-date policies, procedures and legalities of estate planning. They are selected for their expertise in subjects regarding accounting, law, and financial planning and assist the Board of Trustees and the Institutional Advancement staff in achieving the gift planning mission of the College.
The objectives of the EPC are to:
- Advocate for the College through public and private support, including the cultivation and stewardship of external relationships
- Give advice and/or professional services regarding estate tax planning strategies, wills, trusts, annuities and other topics that impact the donors, endowments and investments held by Ferrum College
- Provide a forum to exchange ideas and to discuss common problems particular to the discipline of estate planning as it pertains to higher education
- Share new developments in the constantly changing field of estate planning and facilitate continued staff development of estate planning knowledge and expertise
- Promote positive public relations for the College
The EPC consists of at least twenty (20), but no more than thirty (30) members. Members will serve four-year renewable terms. Members will consist primarily of attorneys, trust officers, private fiduciaries, certified public accountants, insurance professionals, and financial planners whose professional careers have all been centered on helping others achieve their estate planning goals. It is intended that the EPC will convene two times per year.
