The Ferrum College Business Advisory Board (BAB) is a group of business and community
leaders who provide valuable external input on issues of strategic importance to the
College. Members serve in an advocacy and advisory role to the faculty and administration.
They are selected to represent a wide sphere of professional fields and experience.
The objectives of the BAB are to:
- Offer an interface between the College and the regional business community, providing
advice, opinions, and ideas regarding a variety of topical issues
- Bring a corporate perspective to programs and curricula in all three of Ferrum’s academic
schools, working with College faculty and programs to develop experiential education
- Enrich the educational experience through business networks, providing opportunities
for students including internships, career advice, and job placement along with visiting
classes as expert guests, sponsoring student career-related events and initiatives,
and acting as mentors.
- Promote positive public relations for the College
The BAB consists of at least twenty (20), but no more than fifty (50) members. Members
will serve three-year renewable terms. Members will consist primarily of business
leaders and specialists who are acquainted with the needs of the corporate and not-for-profit
business world, the larger community, and who are in a position to assist the College
and its students in the ways described above. It is intended that the BAB will convene
two times per year.
