Ferrum 100: Alumni Profiles

Alumni Spotlight: Charlotte Moran '11 Mark Roberts
I majored in Russian and minored in Criminal Justice in May 2011. I am originally from Ballston Spa, New York.

While I was at Ferrum I was the vice president of the Russian club and worked with theater productions doing the lights for the shows directed by Professor Wayne Bowman. During the summer of 2010 I worked at a summer camp in Ukraine near the Black Sea. I finished all necessary classes and credits to be able to finish school a semester early in December. After graduation in May, I started working as a youth activities counselor for Disney Cruise Line aboard the Disney Dream from 2011 until 2013. While aboard the Disney Dream, I was offered a job with Disney English. Disney English is a English as a foreign language learning company in China. I teach English to children ages 3-11 in an immersive environment.
The best thing about Ferrum College is the teachers. Professor Wayne Bowman and Dr. Sasha Saari taught me so much both in class and out of class. I wouldn't be the person I am today without them.
I am proud of Ferrum College because it gave me the opportunities to learn new things. If I had not gone to Ferrum I might have never studied Russian. Without studying Russian I would never have done all of the traveling that I have done since leaving Ferrum College.
