On-Line Math Placement Test

                        Instructions

Ferrum College requires all new freshmen to take a placement test in math.  The test  is available on-line, and we strongly encourage you to take it before coming to a PAWS session.  If you do not take this test in advance it will delay completion of your class schedule, and you will have less time to get information and take care of business on PAWS day.

The math placement test helps us decide what level of math you are ready to take.  Your performance on this test helps to place you in the proper math class.  Do your best on this test, but do not get help from anyone else.  If you do not give this test proper attention you may have to take an extra math class.  If you get help from someone else, you may be placed in a class that you are unable to handle.

When you take this test you should not use a calculator.  You should have pencil and paper ready in order to find your answers.  You should also allow yourself about an hour to complete the test.

Instructions:

  • Go to ANGEL, Ferrum’s course management web portal, at https://ferrum.angellearning.com.  There is also a link to ANGEL on Ferrum’s website under the Current Students tab.

  • Log on to ANGEL using your Panther Tracks User Name and Password.

  • Click on the Math Placement Examination (in the Courses section on the left side of the main page).

  • Complete Part I and Part II of the placement test.

  • When you have completed each part just click on Submit.

If you encounter problems or have questions while taking this test you can email Ms. Betsy Smith at bsmith@ferrum.edu, or Professor Renae McBride at rmcbride@ferrum.edu.
