Ferrum College’s School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics is excited to welcome Doug Fine, journalist, lecturer and author of Farewell, My Subaru, to the Ferrum College campus, Thursday, October 1st .  Fine’s visit is part of  the College’s campus-wide theme, “Sustainability: Becoming the change you want to see in the world.”
Fine travels the globe speaking with audiences about how we all can live locally and reduce our fossil fuel usage without giving up our modern-day comforts.  His experiment in living green is chronicled in his book, Farewell, My Subaru, a funny and inspiring look of how Fine decided to live for an entire year using little to no oil.   His struggles (and comical mishaps) have become an inspiration for many and his story has landed him on CNN and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Fine will hold his lecture at 7:00 p.m. in the Blue Ridge Mountain Room in Franklin Hall on the Ferrum College campus.  His lecture is free and open to the public.  For more information, contact Glen Stevens at (540) 365-4554 or gstevens@ferrum.edu
