Q: What’s
the best way for us to tell you about our event?
A: It’s
one thing to mention it in the cafeteria line and its another to
really give us direction with how we can help you. When in doubt,
just fill out our online form- or print it out, fill it out by hand
and turn it in to John Wesley 106. That will get your project officially
started and give us enough to go on!
Q: How
do I get an event on that nifty new online calendar?
A: Just
use the form here!
Q: Would
you email me our College seal, bell tower, or panther logo?
A: Now
you can find the logos online! Just click here!
Q: How
can I get the most out of these new PR services?
A: The
one tip that we can’t stress enough is to get on our schedule
as EARLY as possible. The sooner we know what we need to do and what
we need from you, the better we can manage the queue of requests. Some
things we simply cannot do if they come to us late- while others, if
we have the time, can be promoted very heavily if we just get it early.

Q: Can
you redesign my department's website?
A: Sure!
Contact the webmaster at x4302 or webmaster@ferrum.edu to arrange an
appointment. It will usually take 2-4 weeks to fulfill your request,
depending on the size of the site. Samples of newly redesigned sites
can be seen here and here.
Q: How
do I reserve the entrance sign for an upcoming event?
A: Just
fill out this form!
Q: I’m
having trouble emailing a document…
A: Oops-
stop right there. I know we appear pretty tech savvy but we can’t
possibly answer everyone’s questions- please call Computer Services
(x5571) for all hardware and software questions.
Q: What
are these “Media Queries” emails Natalie
keeps sending me?
A: We
track a number of sources for reporters looking for comments, experts,
interviews and sometimes just one-line emails. When we see a journalist
looking and they match up with a department or person that could help,
we will send you an email (and in some cases call directly). Many times
the emailed queries need only a quick response that doesn’t take
much time- and in many cases leads to a mention of you and Ferrum College
in a major publication!
Q: Where
is your office?
A: The
PR office is located in the John Wesley building on the first floor.
Room 106.
Q: Who
puts together the Ferrum Magazine (FM)?
A: FM
is watched over by the caring eyes of the Alumni and Public Relations
Offices. All content is created in-house by a number of sources. We
are always looking for writers and photos, so please let us know if
you could help at: alumni@ferrum.edu.
Q: How
do I get into the “Campus News”
section of the Ferrum Magazine (FM)?
A: The
secret to this coveted spot is also to simply have a press release
done on your event (so
fill out our event form) and we will try to include it in the magazine
next in the production cycle. But if you really want to increase your
chances, make sure you get a high-resolution photo of your speaker
or event (or one we can scan)- the magazine certainly favors pictures
in terms of feature size!
Q: How
do I get into the “News” section of the Ferrum
e-newsletter (Fe)?
A: The
secret to this coveted spot is to simply have a press release done
on your event (so
fill out our event form) and we will try to include it in the e-newsletter
next in the production cycle.
