Farm Manager

Ferrum College has an immediate opening for Farm Manager to work 19 hours per week at our Titmus Agricultural Center. The successful applicant will oversee the operations of the Ferrum College farm in support of students and faculty in the Agricultural Sciences program
Minimum qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree in agricultural sciences or related field and practical experience in farm management. Applicant should have the ability to work well with a variety of people, be self-motivated, disciplined and well organized, and work a flexible schedule. Commercial driver’s license and herbicide/pesticide applicator’s license would be preferred.

Floor Technician

Ferrum College invites applications for the full-time position of Floor Technician in our Housekeeping Department. We are looking for reliable, conscientious individuals to perform floor cleaning duties in residential halls, office/classroom buildings, other buildings, and occasionally outside. This involves cleaning using specialized chemicals and equipment, including motorized cleaning equipment. Individual to extract/clean carpet and strip/ shower scrub tile floors, also must be able to clean windows and perform other housekeeping duties as assigned.
Individuals will work in a variety of environments, both inside and outside. Must be able to occasionally lift & carry up to 75 pounds and be capable of a full range of body motions including reaching, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, and walking.
This is a full time, 40-hour week position with occasional weekend and overtime work. Must be able to work a flexible schedule. Drivers license and good driving record required. Background check required.

On-Call Driver

Ferrum College is accepting applications for an On-Call Driver to assist in meeting the transportation needs of Ferrum College. Vehicles used will be College-owned or provided. Responsibilities may include transporting students, employees, and/or guests on College-sponsored field trips or to special events; transporting exhibits; providing other off-campus transportation; performing routine fueling and pre-trip inspection of vehicles; and recordkeeping. This position may require some overnight travel.
Applicants must be over 21 years of age; have a current Virginia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger certification and a good driving record; have the ability to drive safely in all types of traffic and weather conditions in both rural and urban settings; and must be willing to submit to background checks, including Motor Vehicle Report checks. Drivers may be required to undergo physical exam and/or drug testing initially and periodically. Drivers are required to operate vehicles in accordance with the Ferrum College Vehicle Safety Policy and other College policies as procedures, as well as applicable state and federal laws.
