April 9, 2003 Dear Campus Community, I am pleased to report that the Franklin County Planning Commission has approved our application to construct a communications tower on campus. We are currently in the final stages of negotiating an agreement with U.S. Cellular to construct the tower and provide cellular services to the College and the community. It is hoped that the tower can be in place by the start of the fall semester. In addition to greatly improved wireless telephone service, it is also very exciting to note that U.S. Cellular is planning on using our campus to test market some of the latest developments in cellular technology. I would like to commend two of our students, John Bogo and Greg Johnson, for attending the Commission meeting last night and making excellent presentations representing student support of this project. We will continue to keep you all updated as these plans progress. Sincerely yours, |
