SALARY RANGE: $40,044 - $75,492.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Web developer/producer, the incumbent
will serve as a graphic designer and assistant webmaster for the Bureau
of Consumer Protection’s Web site on www.ftc.gov. The incumbent
will: Create distinctive design and layout of visual materials in
electronic (and print) format. Materials may include, but not
be limited to, Web pages, Web banner PSAs, graphic elements, brochures,
fact sheets, bookmarks, post cards, posters, etc. Convert print
materials into electronic format and post on FTC Web site. Work closely
with staff to develop conceptual approaches for design of graphics,
Web pages, publications and other electronic and print materials.
Assist with the monitoring, maintenance, editing design and layout
of the BCP site.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: One year of specialized experience is required.
Specialized experience is defined as experience that is in or directly
related to the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant
with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully
perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, the specialized
experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower grade
level.
EVALUATION CRITERIA: Applicants who meet the minimum qualification
requirements for this position will be further evaluated on the basis
of their accomplishments, experience, and education compared to the
knowledge, skills, and abilities required of this position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’S)
1. Knowledge of personal computer systems and related design/graphic
software for producing prints and Web-based products. Skill and proficiency
in design and illustration using a variety of art media and materials,
which may include Adobe PageMaker, Illustrator, PhotoShop; Corel Draw,
WordPerfect; Macromedia Dreamweaver, Freehand; Microsoft Front Page,
Office.
2. Knowledge and experience with HTML coding, Windows NT/2000 environment,
browser compatibility, and a demonstrated flexible approach to problem
solving and Web performance issues. (Basic knowledge of Section 508
requirements, Javascript, Java Applets, and/or PERL and CGI scripting
a plus.)
3. Demonstrated ability to create original design and layout of Web
pages and print materials, and design, edit and manipulate graphics
for Web pages using industry standard software. (Please provide samples
in print or online.)
4. Ability to communicate orally, in writing, and through design;
skilled at writing, editing and proofreading content.
5. Ability to function as part of a multi-disciplinary team, taking
assignments from staff and developing new ideas and solutions for

Shenandoah Conservation Manager (SCM): - Potomac
Conservancy seeks a catalyst for voluntary, private, permanent land
protection in the northern Shenandoah watershed (Frederick, Clarke,
Shenandoah, and Warren Counties in Virginia). The goal of this
position is to increase private participation in permanent land protection
in critical watersheds through outreach to landowners and identification
of resources that will make restoration and permanent protection of
riparian corridors an economically desirable option. The SCM
will be responsible for community-based conservation efforts with
emphasis on permanent protection of existing and restored riparian
corridors. This position will entail community outreach, raising
community awareness about conservation opportunities, and working
collaboratively with state and federal agencies as well as other local
conservation groups. The ideal candidate will have a strong
commitment to conservation, excellent communication skills, have connections
to the local community, and be able to work independently as well
as part of a team. The SCM will work from a field office in Winchester,
Virginia. Full time entry-level position. Requirements:
bachelor’s degree; 3+ years experience in conservation, natural
resource management, real estate, planning, forestry, and similar
issues; ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people
and diverse partners; knowledge of local landscape and familiarity
