NETWORKING
 
Use all contacts: former employers, recruiters, friends, professors, classmates, and family members. If possible, get introductions to potential employers. Attend professional and trade conferences to begin networking.
 
Technology: The Career Homepage is the 24-hour-a-day, 7 days a week interactive, online information system.  You can access us by the URL www.ferrum.edu and click on Career Services.  With the Career Homepage, you can learn about all the services that our center offers as well as be linked to the entire world of EXPERIENTIAL RESOURCES!!

* Get up-to-date information about workshops and resources
* Get information about con-campus recruiting schedules
 
Write to companies on your prospect list. Send an individually typed letter to a specific person within each company.
* State your reason for writing; mention a few of your credentials, and request an interview or appointment. State when you will telephone to confirm the appointment.
* Include a resume with your letter.
* Keep all leads going at once. Do not put off one lead until you hear from another.
 
 
INTERVIEWS
 
The interview is the critical phase of your job campaign.
*Prepare yourself by knowing about the company in advance.
*Anticipate questions and have answers to them.
*Show how your skills and experience could contribute to the success of the organization.
*The attitude which you exhibit is important. Demonstrate a self-confident attitude which indicates that you want the job and can do it.
