Ferrum College Student and Faculty Member Win First Place Awards in Criminal Justice Competitions.

Student Victoria Bowman and Advisor Dr. William N. Osborne, Jr. competed during Regional American Criminal Justice Association Conference.

Ferrum, Va. (Nov. 3, 2011) – Ferrum College Criminal Justice Club member Victoria Bowman and Club advisor Dr. William N. Osborne, Jr. each won two first place awards while attending the American Criminal Justice Association Region IV Regional Conference last month at the University of New Haven in New Haven, Ct.

Held Oct 27 - 29 at the Dr. Henry Lee Institute for Forensic Science, the conference included competitions in crime scene investigations, physical agility and academic examinations. Competing in the Lower Division against other college freshmen and sophomores, Bowman, of Stuart, won first place in both the Corrections and Juvenile Justice Examinations. Dr. Osborne placed first in the Corrections and Police Administration examinations and third in the Juvenile Justice examination while competing against other college professors and criminal justice practitioners in the Professional Division.

In addition to Bowman, the five Ferrum College Criminal Justice Club members who attended the Conference with Dr. Osborne included Ben Taylor, of Hillsville, Ashley Deitz, of Dumfries, Lemontre Taylor, of Crozier, and Deserae Griffith, of Luray.
