Ferrum to Host Women's Basketball NCAA Tournament First & Second Round Games

FERRUM, VA -- Pairings have been released for the 2014 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament and Ferrum College has been selected to host a four-team regional to include first and second round games.

The three teams travelling to Ferrum will be Capital University of the Ohio Athletic Conference, Christopher Newport University of the Capital Athletic Conference and Eastern Mennonite University of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Christopher Newport will face Eastern Mennonite Friday afternoon, followed by the Ferrum vs. Capital game. Tip-off times for both games will be announced by noon Tuesday.

Ferrum (26-2) earned its bid into the NCAA Tournament by winning last weekend's USA South Tournament. The Panthers beat Maryville College 64-50 Saturday in the title game. Ferrum is led by Head Coach Bryan Harvey. The Panthers are making their third straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.  This is Ferrum's fourth overall appearance in program history.

Capital (19-8) won the OAC Tournament to claim its automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.  The Crusaders beat Ohio Northern University 67-50 in the championship game. Capital is led by Head Coach Dixie Jeffers.

Christopher Newport (22-5) received at at-large bid after falling 66-53 to York (Pa.) College in the Capital Tournament title game.  The Captains are led by Head Coach Bill Broderick. CNU is making its 16th overall trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Eastern Mennonite (22-5) also received an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament after falling 61-54 to Guilford College in the ODAC Tournament semifinals. The Royals are led by Head Coach Kevin Griffin, and are making their third trip to the playoffs.
