Ferrum College Plans Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebration Events

Several events next week will honor the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Ferrum, Va. (Jan. 13, 2014) – The Ferrum College campus community will honor and celebrate the legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during several events next week beginning Mon., Jan. 20, 2014 with a Martin Luther King Day Celebration in Vaughn Chapel at 7 p.m. The evening program will highlight King’s historic “I Have a Dream” speech and include music and poetry readings as well.

Next, on Tues., Jan. 21, the King inspired movie "BOYCOTT" will be shown in the Panthers Den in Franklin Hall beginning at 8 p.m.

Then on Thurs., Jan. 23, a panel discussion about King's "I Have A Dream" speech will be held at 8 p.m. in the Panthers Den in Franklin Hall.  Panelists will discuss the issues that were faced during the Civil Rights Movement and how they relate to the challenges encountered today.

Events are open to the public and admission is free.
