Rooms are still available for Ferrum College’s FloydFestPLUS! Learn & Lodge program, which offers guests comfortable rooms with private baths plus daily shuttle service to and from FloydFest on July 23 – 27, 2014. Patrons stay in one of the College’s newest residence halls with access to laundry facilities and can enjoy breakfast each morning before catching the shuttle to the Festival.

On campus, the College offers its guests the opportunity to learn about the authentic bluegrass, country, folk, blues and rockabilly rhythms that have inspired musicians, writers and filmmakers for over a century at the College’s Blue Ridge Institute & Museum (BRI), Virginia’s official State Center for Blue Ridge Folklore and a Major Venue on the Crooked Road Music Trail.

At FloydFest, Ferrum College sponsors the popular Workshop Porch stage where up-and-coming musicians can be heard as well as established musicians playing in a more intimate setting. This year’s Workshop Stage lineup includes daily performances by Annabelle’s Curse, from Bristol, Va.; Bootleg Dynasty, from Wilmington, NC; and Swamp Candy, from Arnold, Md.; all are winners of this year’s Workshop Porch Musician Contest sponsored by the BRI.

Also on the Workshop Porch stage (at 2:30 – 3:15 p.m. on Thurs., July 24) the College’s Office of Sustainability will team up with the Moonshine Beekeepers Association to present The Plants and the Bees, a special program about planting for pollinators. Association members will be on hand throughout the Festival to share information about bees and beekeeping.
