Women's Leadership Conference

Tuesday, March 11

The annual Women's Leadership Conference will focus this year on immigration reform. We have a wonderful program full of inspiring speakers planned.

The Rev. Dr. Sharon Stanley-Rea, Director of Refugee & Immigration Ministries, at the Disciples Home Missions will be our keynote speaker.

We have an alumnae panel that includes Norma Vélez '13 and Joemica Donaldson '13, who will talk about their experiences working with the immigrant community.

Bassett High School will participate in the conference by sending us a panel of Dreamers who will talk about their stories, and with a group of students from the Minority Student Alliance who will be our special guests.

We will be showing the documentary The Dream Is Now and will have discussion, followed by an action panel organized by Organize for America.

In the evening, artist Frida Larios will talk to us about her work in re-imagining the Mayan alphabet.
