October 4 Centennial Celebration Events

The 22nd Annual Corron Classic Golf Tournament - SOLD OUT!

Westlake Golf and Country Club | 10am Registration & 11am Shot-gun Start

Reservations Required. Teams fill up fast; please register as soon  as possible to ensure your foursome’s place on the roster. If you (or your company) is interested in sponsoring a hole please contact the Alumni Office directly. Fee: $100 per player.  You may enter as a team or as an individual player; if you do not have a foursome you will be assigned one. Cost includes greens’ fees, golf cart, buffet and giveaways. A portion of your entry fee will also benefit the Panther Club supporting all Ferrum College Panther athletic programs.

The Celebration Weekend Registration

Look for the Alumni Office tent and check in for the weekend. Pick up a day program to receive information regarding updates on all the Centennial Weekend happenings plus a campus map showcasing the beauty of the 

Ferrum College campus. Sign in to let others know you have arrived. 

 

The Centennial Festival

Hart Plaza | 4–9pm Festival & 4:30–6:30pm Dinner Served

THIS IS THE CELEBRATION YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS! 

Open to all students, parents, alumni, friends, former faculty and staff plus Ferrum community members. Bring your chair or blanket and enjoy live music, a real southern-style BBQ picnic, all sorts of family festival entertainment then settle in for the parade, concert and fireworks! Adults $10; Children 6–12 $7; Children 5 and under – FREE; Ferrum College students, faculty and staff must show College ID for FREE ticket.

 

Centennial Concert & Fireworks

  • 4:00–4:45 pm Two Old Geezers (Acoustic gypsy jazz and Appalachian tunes with National Flatpicking Champion Scott Fore)
  • 5:00–5:45 pm Kerosene Willy (Blues and vintage rock band)   
  • 6:00–6:45 pm Josh Vietti (Hip-hop violinist)
  • 7:00–7:45 pm 14-Karat Gold Band
  • 7:45–8:15 pm Fireworks by Pyrotecnico
  • 8:15–9:00 pm The Tams  


The finale for the Centennial Festival will include a special performance by the renowned TAMS and an exciting fireworks exhibition over Adams Lake. The TAMS have been entertaining and thrilling audiences for over 50 years with such hits as Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy, What Kind of Fool, I’ve Been Hurt and Untie Me. Though their style of music has historically been referred to as Beach Music, it can be also classified as a mixture of Smooth Soul and R&B. Their show is fun, and exciting and will appeal to our Ferrum audience of all ages and musical tastes. Get there early to make sure your chairs and blankets are situated for the best views of the music and the lake! 

 

Centennial Parade

Wiley Drive in front of Hart Plaza | 5:45–6:15pm

The parade will approach the Plaza from the YMCA and continue south on Wiley Drive. Cheer on our current athletic teams, student organizations/clubs’ Homecoming floats, alumni from Ferrum’s four National Championship Football teams (who will be inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday), current and former Presidents, cars from all decades (including Martinsville Speedway president Clay Campbell’s car), the Franklin County High School Marching Band, plus a variety of groups from the Ferrum community. Don’t miss this classic Homecoming tradition!
