Senior Joshua Grimard (’19) shares why he feels he’s been successful balancing academics and basketball at Ferrum College. Grimard, a Health and Human Performance major earning K-12 teaching licensure, has participated in men’s basketball for three years: “Balancing school with practices and games is challenging, but I have been successful by having a positive relationship with professors as well as by doing academic work ahead of time. Since middle school, it has been my dream to be a P.E. teacher. I had amazing teachers that made me fall in love with Physical Education. I love how the Ferrum College Teacher Education program makes me feel part of a family, and the professors make it fun to learn and are very personable and easy to come to for guidance. I know I will be prepared to teach on my own one day.” Josh will complete his student teaching field experience in Fall 2018.
