William & Mary Dominates VaSID Women's Tennis Awards

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – William & Mary’s Megan Moulton-Levy was named State Player of the Year for the third consecutive season by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID), which released its Women’s Tennis University Division All-State teams.

Moulton-Levy was one of five Tribe representatives honored, a haul indicative of the depth of nation’s 21st-ranked team. William & Mary’s Kevin Epley earned his second straight Coach of the Year award for the Green and Gold, while players Ragini Acharya, Katarina Zoricic and Klaudyna Kasztelaniec also garnered all-state status.

In 2008, Moulton-Levy put the finishing touches on one of the finest careers ever recorded in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Monroe, Mich. native went 31-8 in singles play and 30-8 in doubles action. She advanced to the NCAA Singles Tournament round of 16, as well as the quarterfinals of the doubles draw with Zoricic. Moulton-Levy finished the year ranked 18th in singles and eighth in doubles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Her efforts earned her All-America honors in singles and doubles, the fifth and sixth such awards of her career. In addition, Moulton-Levy was named the Colonial Athletic Association’s Player of the Year for the fourth straight season. She is just the second player to accomplish that feat.

Meanwhile, Epley’s award adds to a mantle that already included 2008 ITA East Region and CAA Coach of the Year honors. Epley guided the Tribe to its 20th CAA Championship in the 23-year history of the league, going 18-9 in the process. William & Mary received its 17th NCAA bid in 2008, advancing to the second round.

Additionally, Zoricic and Acharya picked up first team honors in singles and doubles, while Kasztelaniec earned a first team doubles nod.

Liberty freshman Jordan Jenkins was selected VaSID Rookie of the Year, as well as first team singles. Jenkins was 16-1 in both singles and doubles this season, receiving Big South Player and Freshman of the Year trophies.

Rounding out the VaSID first team singles were Virginia Commonwealth University’s Tatsiana Uvarova and Virginia’s Jennifer Stevens. Lindsey Pereira and Maggie Yahner of Virginia garnered the final first team doubles citation.

All-State teams are selected by active members of the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association.  For more information, please visit the VaSID site at
