Murray Rudisill Named Virginia Golf
Coach of the Year
Virginia Tech, ODU Place Two on First Team
NORFOLK, VA—The Virginia State
Golf Coaches Association named Old Dominion University head
coach Murray Rudisill the 2007 Coach-of-the-Year. The
association also selected a first and second All-State team.
Josh Meador (Radford), Jurrian Van Der Vaart (Virginia
Tech), Stan Guerrero (ODU), Eric Onesi (ODU) and Drew Weaver
(Virginia Tech) were selected to the first team.

University Division Men's Golf All-State Team
Rudisill’s youthful Monarchs featured three freshmen and no
seniors in his top five. ODU won the CAA Championship and
advanced to the NCAA East Regionals. Rudisill was
named CAA Coach-of-the Year in April. This is his fifth
State honor and third since 2003. In all, the Monarchs had
11 top 10 and eight top five finishes. In addition to
winning the league crown, ODU won the William and Mary Joe
Agee title.
Drew Weaver (So, High Point, NC.) won the 2007 British
Amateur on June 23rd and gains exemption into the
British Open, the Masters and a four-year exemption into the
US Amateur. He led the Hokies in four events, taking a
second at Hawaii, fourth at Duke and 23rd at the
NCAA East Regional. He placed 12th at the ACC
Championships and posted a 73.80 scoring average.
Stan Guerrero tied for ODU’s best stroke average of 72.7,
and was the Monarchs top performer in four tournaments. He
tied for second at Raines, fifth at Mission Inn and took
sixth at the CAA Championship. Guerrero earned first team
All-CAA honors, helped ODU capture the CAA title and advance
to the NCAA East Regionals. The finance major was also the
CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year for men’s golf.
Jurrian van der Vaart (Jr, Almelo, the Netherlands) was
second on the team in stroke average at 73.75. He placed 15th
at the ACC Championship which the Hokies tied Georgia Tech
for the League title. He also placed ninth at Furman, which
the Hokies won.
Josh Meador, (Sr, Glen Allen, VA. posted a 72.1 stroke
average for Radford University. He placed fifth overall at
the Big South Championships, and had seven top 10 finishes,
two top five, including one medalist honor in the Lonnie
Smalls Tournament, and one second-place finish. Meador is a
three-time Dean’s list student at Radford and a two-time Big
South Academic All-Conference selection.
Eric Onesi (Fr., Bear, DE.) is the CAA Rookie of the Year.
He tied Guerrero for the teams best stroke average at 72.7.
Onesi tied for second at the CAA Championship as the
Monarchs won the title and advanced to the NCAA East
Regional. He placed second at the ODU/Seascape along
with a fourth place finish at Mid Pines. Onesi also earned
first team All-CAA and CAA All-Tournament honors.
Conrad Van Borsig (Virginia), Rafael Campos (VCU), Adam Webb
(Longwood), Ryan Sypniewski (Virginia Tech), and Jens
Fahrbring (VCU) are second team All-State selections.
All-State teams are selected by active members of the Virginia
