Tabb, Dyke, Ishida Top Women's Tennis All-State Team

FERRUM, Va. – Washington & Lee University's Katie Tabb and Eric Ishida have been named Player and Coach of the Year, respectively, to headline the 2008 College Division All-State Women's Tennis Team, as voted upon by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.  Christopher Newport University's Lisa Dyke garnered Rookie of the Year honors.

2008 VaSID College Division Women's Tennis All-State Team

Tabb went 22-7 this year at #1 singles and 25-3 at #1 doubles, combining for a stellar 47-10 overall record.  The earned All-America honors in both singles and doubles, was the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Player of the Year and earned All-ODAC first team honors.

Ishida led the Generals to a 28-1 record in his first year at the helm of the program.  W&L's lone loss was in the title match of the 2008 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament, giving the school a national runner-up finish.  Ishida was also the 2008 ODAC Coach of the Year.

Dyke went 203 at #4 singles this year for Christopher Newport.  She also went 18-3 at #3 doubles, giving her a 38-6 overall record.  Dyle helped the Captains finish 20-3 this season.

Joining Tabb on the All-State first team were teammates Lauren Caire and Kelly Will, Mary Washington University's Becky Morse-Karzen, Virginia Wesleyan College's Imee Bautista, and Christopher Newport's Lindsey Pantele.

Second team honorees include Mary Washington's Natalie Fugate and Stephanie Kurti, Virginia Wesleyan's Megan Crook, Christopher Newport's Frannie Shivar,  Sweet Briar College's Virginia Edahl, and Bridgewater College's Hilary Teeter.
