Va. Wesleyan Wins 2005-06 VaSID College Division All-Sports Survey

 

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The Virginia Wesleyan College Marlins won over 71% of its athletic contests in the 2005-06 school year to win the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association All-Sports College Division Survey for the second time in the last three years.

Virginia Wesleyan was buoyed by a 30-3 men’s basketball season which was capped by winning the NCAA Division III National Championship.

Coming in second place was Christopher Newport University, winning 67.3% of its contests, while the University of Mary Washington was third at 65.4%.  Washington & Lee University was fourth with a  65% winning clip.

On the women’s side, Washington & Lee won that by taking 75.7% of its contests outdistancing Virginia Wesleyan (71.5%) and Christopher Newport (71.3%).  The Marlins cruised to the men’s title winning 71.1% of its contests to lead Mary Washington (62.7%) and Hampden-Sydney College (61.9%).
