Hay, Olsen Nab Top College Division All-State Women's Soccer Honors

FERRUM, Va. – Virginia Wesleyan College forward Sharon Hay and Lynchburg College coach Dr. Todd Olsen have been named 2005 VaSID College Division Women's Soccer Player and Coach of the Year, respectively.

Hay registered 43 points for Virginia Wesleyan this season on 20 goals and three assists.  She had five game-winning goals, helping the Marlins finish 19-2-1, win the ODAC regular season crown, and advance to the second round of the 2005 NCAA Division III Tournament.

Olsen led Lynchburg to an 18-3-2 record this season.  The Hornets claimed a spot in the NCAA Division III Tournament by winning this year's ODAC Tournament.  Olsen guided Lynchburg to the Sweet 16.

Christopher Newport University and Washington and Lee University each had four players named to the All-State first team.  Midfielders Ashleigh Dota and Emily Renkin, defender Ashley Glover, and goalkeeper Erin Wojtkun claimed honors for the Captains, while W&L had forward Anne Wiltshire, midfielder Gina Von Sternberg, and defenders Heather Rogers and Haley Bunting honored.

Rounding out the All-State first team were midfielder Kim Vaughan and defender Lauren Askey from Lynchburg College, and forward Rachel McLoughlin of Randolph-Macon College.
