Junior attack Allie Weir was named the state player of the year, midfielder Kristina Morris earned Rookie of the Year honors while Enza Steele took home Coach of the Year accolades.

Weir earned third-team National Field Hockey Coaches All-American honors this fall after scoring 35 goals, including seven game-winners. She was named the co-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Year and was also an All-Region first team selection.

Morris, the ODAC Rookie of the Year, played in all 24 Hornet games with 23 starts. She was an honorable mention to the all-conference team. Steele’s Lynchburg squad went 18-6 overall, won the ODAC title and advanced into the NCAA Division III Tournament’s Sweet 16.  She was voted the ODAC Coach of the year and her team has captured three-straight conference crowns.

Christopher Newport University dotted the first-team with four student-athletes, while Eastern Mennonite University, Lynchburg and Washington & Lee University each had two players on the first team. Randolph-Macon College garnered one first-teamer and the University of Mary Washington populated the second-team with four Eagles.

All-State teams are selected by active members of the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association.  For more information, please visit the VaSID site at http://www.ferrum.edu/athletics/vasid.
