William & Mary senior Katarina Zoricic collected Player of the
Year honors when VaSID released its University All-State
Women’s Tennis Team. Richmond’s Mark Wesselink was named Coach
of the Year, while Virginia freshman Emily Fraser scooped the
Rookie of the Year award.

Virginia Sports Information Directors Association announced
today that 213 collegiate student-athletes were honored for
their performances both in the classroom and in competition as
the organization selected the 2008-09 VaSID Academic All-State
Team.

Media Relations Asst. Director Colley Dies
Michael Colley, a long-time assistant director in the
University of Virginia athletics media relations office, died
July 11. The Colley family suggests memorial
contributions be sent in Michael's name to benefit the
Virginia men's lacrosse program.

Named Coach of the Year in Men's Golf
Virginia’s head men’s golf coach Bowen Sargent has been named
Coach of the Year by the Virginia State Golf Coaches
Association. The first team All-State squad consists of Lanto
Griffin and Rafael Campos (VCU), Drew Weaver (Virginia Tech),
Will Collins (UVA) and Eric Onesi (ODU).

Singh Share Men's Tennis Player of the Year
irginia headlined the 2009 Men’s Tennis All-State awards
as the duo of Dominic Inglot and Sanam Singh shared the
Player of the Year honor, while head coach Brian Boland was

Virginia Tech’s Luka Somen garnered the Rookie of the Year

Virginia won .648 percent of its contests in 2008-09 to win the
31st annual VaSID University Division All-Sport championship.
This is the Cavaliers 11th overall title, second
straight and fourth in the last six years.

of its athletic contests in the 2008-09 athletic season to
win the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association
College Division All-Sports Survey. This marks the fifth
time since 2000-01 that the Captains have won the overall
award.
