CNU Wins '09 All-Sports Survey
NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – Christopher Newport University won 69.2% of its athletic contests in the 2008-09 athletic season to win the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association College Division All-Sports Survey.  This marks the fifth time since 2000-01 that the Captains have won the overall award. ODU's Ryan Williams and Steve Martin have been named VaSID Wrestler and Coach of the Year, respectively.  For Martin, it's the second straight honor.  Virginia Tech’s Jarrod Garrett was selected Rookie of the Year. More

Krzysik, Julien Named Women's Soccer Co-Players of the Year
A pair of NSCAA All-America selections, senior defender Nikki Krzysik of Virginia and junior forward Corky Julien of JMU, shared the University Division State Player of the Year honor for women’s soccer.  VMI forward Olivia Moore was named the VaSID Rookie of the Year and Radford’s Ben Sohrabi garnered Coach of the Year honors. Massie Named Men’s Soccer Player of the Year
Va. Wesleyan's Brandon Massie has been named Player of the Year, headlining the '08 VaSID College Division Men’s Soccer All-State Team.  Christopher Newport University’s Winston Mattheisen and Steve Shaw have been named Rookie and Coach of the Year, respectively.
