The Virginia Sports Information Directors recently honored 222
collegiate student-athletes for their performances both in the
classroom and in competition as the organization selected the
2007-08 VaSID Academic All-State Team.

Mike Zucconi
of Eastern Mennonite University has been named the 2007-08 Old
Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Sports Information Director
of the Year, as voted on by the league's sports information
professionals.

William & Mary’s Megan Moulton-Levy was named State Player of
the Year for the third consecutive season by the Virginia Sports
Information Directors (VaSID), which released its Women’s Tennis
University Division All-State teams.
Liberty freshman Jordan Jenkins was selected VaSID Rookie of
the Year.

Wrestling Team Announced
Old Dominion swept the major honors in the 2008 VaSID All-State
Wrestling Team, the first-ever all-state wrestling squad.
James Nicholson, a 125-pounder for ODU, earned Rookie and
Wrestler of the Year honors. Monarch head coach Steve
Martin was named Coach of the Year.

McFarland Receive Top University Baseball Honors
W&M's
Mike Sheridan and JMU's Spanky McFarland captured top honors on
the '08 University All-State Baseball team. Sheridan was named
Player of the Year, while McFarland earned Coach of the Year.
Virginia’s Michael Schwimer was chosen Pitcher of the Year, and
Turner Phelps from JMU earned Rookie of the Year.

Season
The Virginia Cavaliers headlined the University Men’s Tennis
All-State awards. For the third straight season,
senior Somdev Devvarman and head coach Brian Boland were
named the State Player and Coach of the Year. Radford
freshman Ivan Salec garnered Rookie of the Year honors.

The

won over 61 percent of its intercollegiate athletic contests
in 2007-08 to win the 30th annual Virginia Sports
Information Director’s Association University Division All-Sport
championship. This is the Cavaliers 10th overall title.
