W&M’S Zoricic Named Women's Tennis Player of the Year
William & Mary senior Katarina Zoricic collected Player of the Year honors when VaSID released its University All-State Women’s Tennis Team. Richmond’s Mark Wesselink was named Coach of the Year, while Virginia freshman Emily Fraser scooped the Rookie of the Year award. More
 
ODU, Virginia Top Women's Lacrosse Team
Old Dominion snared two of the top awards as VaSID released the 2009
University Women's Lacrosse All-State Team, with Sue Stahl’s selection as the Coach of the Year and Sarah Geary’s honor as Rookie of the Year.  Virginia’s Blair Weymouth was named Player of the Year.  More
Generals Sweep Women's Tennis Honors
Washington and Lee swept all three major awards on the 2009 College Division Women's Tennis All-State team.  Katie Tabb and Eric Ishida earned Player and Coach of the Year, respectively, for the second straight year each.  The Generals' Ellen Yeatman earned Rookie of the Year honors.

Moss, Shulman, Bates Top Men's Tennis Team
The 2009 College Division Men's Tennis All-State Team has been announced and Hampden-Sydney's William Moss and Murrie Bates have been named Player and Coach of the Year, respectively.  Christopher Newport's Eric Shulman earned Rookie of the Year honors. More

Academic All-State Team

The Virginia Sports Information Directors Association announced today that 213 collegiate student-athletes were honored for their performances both in the classroom and in competition as the organization selected the 2008-09 VaSID Academic All-State Team. More
UVA Media Relations Asst. Director Colley Dies
Michael Colley, a long-time assistant director in the University of Virginia athletics media relations office, died July 11.  The Colley family suggests memorial contributions be sent in Michael's name to benefit the Virginia men's lacrosse program.

Sargent Named Coach of the Year in Men's Golf
Virginia’s head men’s golf coach Bowen Sargent has been named Coach of the Year by the Virginia State Golf Coaches Association.  The first team All-State squad consists of Lanto Griffin  and Rafael Campos (VCU), Drew Weaver (Virginia Tech), Will Collins (UVA) and Eric Onesi (ODU). More
Inglot, Singh Share Men's Tennis Player of the Year
irginia headlined the 2009 Men’s Tennis All-State awards as the duo of Dominic Inglot and Sanam Singh shared the Player of the Year honor, while head coach Brian Boland was named the Coach of the Year for the fourth straight season.  Virginia Tech’s Luka Somen garnered the Rookie of the Year honor.

Virginia Repeats as VaSID All-Sports Champion
Virginia won .648 percent of its contests in 2008-09 to win the 31st annual VaSID University Division All-Sport championship.  This is the Cavaliers 11th overall title, second straight and fourth in the last six years. More
CNU’s Bailey Named Baseball Player of the Year
Christopher Newport’s Trae Bailey was named the 2009 College Division Baseball Player of the Year while Shenandoah’s Cory Nelson was named Rookie of the Year and his Coach, Kevin Anderson, was named Coach of the Year, the Virginia Sports Information Directors announced. More
St. John, Hoff, Pilat Nab Men's LAX Honors
W&L's Harry St. John earned Player of the Year honors on the '09 Men's Lacrosse All-State team.  Roanoke's Bill Pilat earned  Coach of the Year, and Lynchburg’s Dylan Hoff was named Rookie of the Year.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. – Christopher Newport University won 69.2% of its athletic contests in the 2008-09 athletic season to win the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association College Division All-Sports Survey.  This marks the fifth time since 2000-01 that the Captains have won the overall award.
