William & Mary Dominated VaSID Univ. Women's Tennis Awards
William & Mary’s Megan Moulton-Levy was named State Player of the Year for the third consecutive season by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID), which released its Women’s Tennis University Division All-State teams.  Liberty freshman Jordan Jenkins was selected VaSID Rookie of the Year.  More

First Ever All-State Wrestling Team Announced
Old Dominion swept the major honors in the 2008 VaSID All-State Wrestling Team, the first-ever all-state wrestling squad.  James Nicholson, a 125-pounder for ODU, earned Rookie and Wrestler of the Year honors.  Monarch head coach Steve Martin was named Coach of the Year. More
Sheridan, McFarland Receive Top University Baseball Honors
W&M's Mike Sheridan and JMU's Spanky McFarland captured top honors on the '08 University All-State Baseball team. Sheridan was named Player of the Year, while McFarland earned Coach of the Year.  Virginia’s Michael Schwimer was chosen Pitcher of the Year, and Turner Phelps from JMU earned Rookie of the Year.  More
UVA’s Bordley Named Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year
Virginia defender Claire Bordley was named the 2008 VaSID University Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year. William & Mary's Grace Golden and Christine Halfpenny were named Rookie of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively. More
Devvarman Named Men's Tennis Player of the Year for Third Straight Season
The Virginia Cavaliers headlined the University Men’s Tennis All-State awards.  For the third straight season, senior Somdev Devvarman and head coach Brian Boland were named the State Player and Coach of the Year.  Radford freshman Ivan Salec garnered Rookie of the Year honors.

Virginia Captures '08
All-Sports Title

The University of Virginia won over 61 percent of its intercollegiate athletic contests in 2007-08 to win the 30th annual Virginia Sports Information Director’s Association University Division All-Sport championship.  This is the Cavaliers 10th overall title. More
Tincher, Thomas, Breau & Keefe Grab Softball Honors
George Mason's Ashli Breau has been named Player of the Year, while Radford's Shannon Keefe is the Rookie of the Year on the 2008 University All-State Softball Team.  Virginia Tech's Angela Tincher and Scot Thomas have been named Pitcher and Coach of the Year, respectively.  More
Mook, Pugh, Cole Top Men's Tennis Team
Christopher Newport's John Mook and Rush Cole have been named Player and Coach of the Year, respectively, topping the 2008 College Division All-State Men's Tennis Team.  Hampden-Sydney freshman Rich Pugh earned Rookie of the Year honors.

Lynchburg swept the '08 College All-State Softball major awards as Elizabeth Perkins was named Player of the Year, Katie Bruce Rookie of the Year, and Dawn Simmons Coach of the Year.

Brooke Diamond and defender Kat Michaels took Coach and Player of the Year honors, respectively, on the 2008 College Women's Lacrosse All-State Team. Roanoke’s Gina Valles was named Rookie of the Year. More
Mary Washington Tops 2008 College All-Sports Survey
The University of Mary Washington won 71.9% of its athletic contests this year to claim the 2007-08 Virginia Sports Information Directors Association College Division All-Sports Survey title.

Lynchburg goalkeeper Garrett Curran has been named College Men's Lacrosse Player of the Year.  Virginia Wesleyan's J.P. Stewart was named Coach of the Year, while Roanoke attack Matt Quinton is the Rookie of the Year.  More

ike Zucconi of Eastern Mennonite University has been named the 2007-08 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Sports Information Director of the Year, as voted on by the league's sports information professionals. More
Moreland, Harvell, Van Sickler Top Baseball Team
Christopher Newport pitcher Kenny Moreland was named College Division Baseball Player of the Year,  while John Harvell was honored as Coach of the Year. Shenandoah’s Greg Van Sickler took home Rookie of the Year honors. More
Young Named W-Hoop Player of the Year
JMU’s Tamera Young and Dawn Evans have been named Player and Rookie of the Year, respectively, on the 2008 University Women's Basketball All-State Team.  ODU’s Wendy Larry garnered Coach of the Year honors.

Shenandoah's Jeremiah Lawrence and Ferrum's Derek Mitchell have been named Player and Rookie of the year, respectively, on the 2008 College Division Men's Basketball All-State team.  Washington and Lee's Adam Hutchinson has been named Coach of the Year.

Richmond's Tim Hightower, Kevin Grayson and Dave Clawson have been named University Division Offensive Player, Rookie and Coach of the Year, respectively.  Virginia's Chris Long earned Defensive Player of the Year. More

Van Devender Women's Soccer Player of the Year
Washington and Lee forward Anne Van Devender has been named Player of the Year on the 2007 College All-State Women's Soccer Team.  Lynchburg's Betsy Kwiatkowski earned Rookie of the Year, while Roanoke's Phill Benne and Lynchburg's Dr. Todd Olsen shared Coach of the Year honors.
