Headline College Division All-State Men’s Lacrosse
Team
ASHLAND,
Va. -- After
leading the Roanoke College Maroons to their first Old
Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) championship since 1997
and the semifinals of the NCAA Division III tournament, senior
midfielder Chris Keating
(Chatham, NJ) has been named the Virginia Sports
Information Directors (VaSID) college division state men’s
lacrosse Player of the Year and head coach
Bill Pilat is the
state Coach of the Year.

College Division All-State Men's Lacrosse Team
Keating
was named the ODAC Player of the
Year this season, as well as first-team all-conference for the
third year in a row. He was a first-team all-state selection
in men’s lacrosse last year as well as a second-team
All-American, and was an Honorable Mention All-American as a
sophomore in 2004. Keating
played in all 18 games and started in 16 contests
this season, and his statistics included 34 goals and 31
assists for 65 total points, 59 ground balls, and 7-of-13
faceoffs won (53.8%). He was first on his team in assists,
second in total points, third in goals and sixth in ground
balls. Also an outstanding soccer player, Keating was a
two-time first-team all-ODAC and two-time second-team
all-state selection as a forward, and was also first-team
all-South Region this past fall and third-team all-region as a
junior.
Joining Keating
as first-team all-state selections are four of his Roanoke
teammates: senior defensemen
Ben Love (Berwyn Heights, MD)
and Rich Li (Dix Hills,
NY), senior goalkeeper
Matt Madalon (Darien, CT),
and junior attackman Jon
Mason (Orangeville, Ontario, Canada).
Lynchburg
College has had four players named to the first-team: senior
attackman A.J. Tinklepaugh
(Annandale, VA), senior midfielder
Brian Kemper (Bel Air, MD),
senior defenseman Chad
Clark (Fairfax, VA), and sophomore attackman
Ryan Cranston (West Chester,
PA).
Hampden-Sydney
College has two first-team members: junior midfielder
Thomas Jennings (Murfreesboro,
TN) and sophomore long-stick midfielder
Colin Dunn (Chevy Chase, MD).
Roanoke
finished the season at 15-3 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the
ODAC. Pilat was
named the conference Coach of the Year for the seventh time
overall and the second season in a row. In the NCAA Division
III tournament semifinals, the third-ranked Maroons took
top-ranked and undefeated Salisbury University to overtime
before falling 13-12. Salisbury has won six overall NCAA
titles, including the last three in a row heading into this
coming weekend’s national championship game against SUNY-Cortland
in Philadelphia.
