Lynchburg’s Fleming Repeats
as Field Hockey Player of the Year
LYNCHBURG, Va. –
Lynchburg College’s Andrea Fleming earned her
second-straight Player of the Year Award as the Virginia
Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division Field
Hockey team was announced Wednesday. Washington & Lee
University’s Wendy Orrison was named the State Coach of the
Year.
2005 VaSID College Division Field Hockey All-State Team
Fleming, a senior attack, earned first-team All-Old Dominion
Athletic Conference (ODAC) honors this fall along with
first-team All-South Region accolades. She scored 24 goals and
had 54 points, ranking first in the ODAC in points and goals
and tied for third in Division III in goals and fifth in
points. Fleming was a first-team All-American selection in
2004.
Orrison led the Generals to a 15-6 record and the first ODAC
title and NCAA Tournament berth in program history. Named the
2005 ODAC Coach of the Year, she coached Washington & Lee to
the most wins and most conference wins in school history.
W&L, Eastern Mennonite University and Lynchburg each had two
student-athletes named to the first team, while Virginia
Wesleyan College, the University of Mary Washington,
Randolph-Macon College, Bridgewater College and Sweet Briar
College each had one first-team player.
All-State teams are selected by active members of the Virginia Sports Information Directors
