Altice Named Player of the Week
FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College senior
Mindy Altice
(Wirtz, Va./Franklin County) has
been named USA South Volleyball Player of the Week for her
performance in four matches last weekend.
The senior outside hitter from recorded 84 kills, a .353 hitting
percentage, 19 digs and seven blocks as the Panthers went 2-2 at the
Emory & Henry College Invitational Aug. 31-Sept. 1.
Altice tallied double-figure kill totals in each match including a
week-high of 31 in a 3-2 victory over Randolph. In Ferrum's other
victory of the week, a 3-2 win over Chowan, Altice recorded 25 kills
with six digs, three blocks and one service ace. In the Panther's
two losses, Altice totaled 28 kills, nine digs, one block and one
service ace.
Also nominated for Volleyball Player of the Week honors was Samantha
Kirby of Averett, Colena Roberts of Mary Baldwin, Sara Yeatman of
Methodist, Keshia Judd of Greensboro, and Michelle Chandler.

Coach Nancy Howlett's volleyball team returns to action Sept. 4 for
a non-conference match at Bridgewater College starting at 6:30 p.m.
Also nominated for weekly honors from Ferrum were Ronnie Edwards for
Football Offensive Player of the Week, Kelsey Walters for Women's
Soccer Rookie of the Week, and Tiffany Walker for Volleyball
Defensive Player of the Week.
