Men's Soccer Picks Up
First Win
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Ferrum College picked up its first men's soccer
win this afternoon, 3-2 over Guilford College on the road.

The Panthers were paced by sophomore forward Scott Minton, who
scored a goal and assisted both other goals. Matt
Larkin assisted on Minton's goal.
Minton opened the game with a goal at the 11:22 mark to give Ferrum
a 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Guilford's Neil Meguid
scored to even the count at 1-1 at 12:17.
Michael Barnes then scored early in the second half at 51:45,
followed by Jason Haynes'
game-winner at 52:18. Minton was credited with assists on both
goals.
Scott Meguid notched a late goal for Guilford at 84:47, but the
Panthers held on to get their first win of the 2007 campaign.
Guilford (3-7) out-shot Ferrum 24-10 and held a 4-2 advantage in
corner kicks. Panther GK Chris McDonnell madetwo saves in the
first 45 minutes of play, while Chris Taylor turned away nine shots.
Ferrum (1-5-1) returns to action Sunday, Sept. 30, at home against
Christopher Newport University. The USA South Athletic
Conference match is set to begin at 2 p.m.
