Alzime, Davenport Earn All-State Basketball Honors
FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College women's basketball
standouts
Aline Alzime (Leesburg, Va./Stonebridge) and
Ali Davenport (Baton Rouge,
La./Runnels) have both been named to the 2006-07 Women's
Basketball College Division All-State Team, as voted upon by the
Virginia Sports Information Directors Association. The two
standouts were named to the second team.
2006-07 VaSID College Division Women's Basketball All-State Team
Davenport, a rising senior, averaged 12.5 points and 7.4 rebounds for
the Panthers this season. She was a first team selection on
the 2007 USA South All-Conference team.
Alzime graduated in May after averaging 11.6 points and 8.4
rebounds. She was an All-Conference second team selection this
season. Alzime was also an All-State first team selection a
year ago.
Ferrum finished the season with a sterling 21-7 overall record under
second year head coach Bryan Harvey. The Panthers set a a new
school record for season wins and season win percentage.
Ferrum won the USA South regular season title and advanced to the
championship game of the USA South Tournament for the second
straight year.
