Ferrum Men Defeat Lynchburg

FERRUM, Va. -- Freshman Derek Mitchell had a double-double to help Ferrum College defeat Lynchburg College 77-62 in non-conference men's basketball action at home tonight.

Mitchell had 19 points and 12 rebounds, both game-highs.  He scored 13 of his 19 points after halftime.  The Panthers also got 10 points from junior Kevin Lambert.

Ferrum (3-4) jumped out to a quick 26-4 lead and never looked back.  Coach Bill Tharp's team was up 41-18 at halftime, shooting 48% from the floor in the first half.

Lynchburg (0-5) was led by Mason Wooldridge's 26 points.  Ferrum returns to action Dec. 8 at Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.  The non-conference game tips off at 2 p.m.
