Men's Basketball Wins Home-Opener

FERRUM, Va. -- Led by three players in double-figure scoring, Ferrum College defeated Elmira College 89-49 in a non-conference men's basketball action.

Senior Jon Godsey and freshman Marcus Mayo led Ferrum (1-0) with 11 points each.  All 17 players saw action tonight, nine of which played 13 or more minutes.  Godsey had a game-high eight rebounds.  Junior Cameron Piper added 10 points, while Justin Henderson had seven assists.

Elmira (0-1) was led by Palen Andreozzi's seven points.

Ferrum led 41-22 at halftime and continued to pull away early in the second half.  The Panthers shot just over 51% from the floor, while the Soaring Eagles shot 30%.  Ferrum out-rebounded Elmira 42-26.

The Panthers return to action Sunday, November 18, at home against Randolph College.  The non-conference game tips off at 2 p.m. at Swartz Gymnasium.
