Ayers Named All-Conference in Cross-Country

FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College freshman Michelle Ayers (Lexington, Va./Rockbridge County) has been named to the USA South Athletic Conference's cross-country All-Conference team as a second team selection.

Ayers was Ferrum's top finisher in three of five races this season.  At the USA South Championship held Oct. 27 in Greensboro, she completed the 6K course in a time of 30:35 to place 29th in a field of 59 runners.

Sophomore Tiffany Garnett (Covington, Va./Alleghany) earned All-Conference honorable mention, while freshman Hannah Martin (Hampton, Va./Kecoughtan) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.  On the men's side, freshman Richard Simpson (Virginia Beach, Va./Booker T. Washington) was also named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.
