Garrett, Musanti Earn All-Conference in Women's Soccer
FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College had a pair of players named to the
2007 USA South Women's Soccer All-Conference team, including first
team selection freshman defender
LaQuinta Garrett
(Herndon, Va./Westfield) and second team selection senior
forward Corinne
Musanti (Staten Island, N.Y./St. John Villa).
2007 USA South
Women's Soccer All-Conference Team
Garrett had two goals and two assists for six points this season,
and scored the game-winning goal in a 6-0 win over Averett
University Oct. 24 on the road. She earned a spot on the
All-Tournament Team at the D.C. Classic, played September 8-9 at
Catholic University.
For Musanti, it was her fourth All-Conference honor, earning
honorable mention laurels in 2004, 2005 and 2006.
Musanti led the Panthers in scoring this season with eight goals and
an assist for 17 points. She scored the game-winning goal in a
7-0 win over Peace College Oct. 13 on the road.
Freshman midfielder
Jessica Lively
(Hardy, Va./Franklin County) earned honorable mention, while
freshman forward
Lea McMillan
(Harrisonburg, Va./Broadway) earned a spot on the 2007 USA South
All-Sportsmanship Team.
Ferrum
closed out the 2007 season at 6-10-2 overall this year under
first-year Head Coach Sandy Lagana. The Panthers' 5-4 league
record earned the #5 seed in the 2007 USA South Women's Soccer
Tournament, where they fell 4-0 in the quarterfinal round at
#4 seed Meredith College to end the year.
