Ferrum's Altice Named
to Volleyball All-Conference First Team
FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College senior
Mindy Altice
(Wirtz, Va./Franklin County) has been named to the 2007 USA
South Athletic Conference's Volleyball All-Conference first team.
2007 USA South Volleyball All-Conference Team
This marks the fourth straight year in which Altice has earned
All-Conference honors. She was a second team selection last
year as a junior and an honorable mention as a freshman and
sophomore in 2004 and 2005.
Altice holds school records for season kills (596 in 2007), season
kills/game (5.09 in 2007), career attacks (4818), career kills
(1981), and career kills/game (4.40). Altice has also earned
Academic All-Conference honors the past three years.
Joining Altice on the All-Conference team this year is sophomore
Jessica
Flanagan (Martinsville, Va./Magna Vista), who earned honorable
mention. Flanagan also earned honorable mention in 2006 as a
freshman with the Panther volleyball program.
Junior Lauren
Thurman (Hardy, Va./Franklin County) was named to the USA
South's 2007 Volleyball All-Sportsmanship Team. Thurman was an
Academic All-Conference selection last year as well.
Altice and two other seniors graduate this year,
Jessica
Walker (Front Royal, Va./Warren County) and
Kenzie
Franklin (Linden, Va./Warren County). Both players earned
Academic All-Conference honors the past three years. Ferrum
closed out the 2007 season at 16-17 overall this year under
third-year Head Coach Nancy Howlett.
