Ferrum Men 4th at Cross-Country
Championship, Women 7th
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Ferrum College finished 4th among six
teams in the men's race at the 2007 USA South Athletic Conference
Cross Country Championship, held this afternoon at Hagan Stone Park
in Greensboro. Ferrum finished seventh in the women's 8-team
race.
Official Race Results
Freshman Joshua Horan was Ferrum's top men's runner, completing the
8K course in a time of 30:54 to finish 21st among 50 runners.
Freshman Peyton Yeatts was 26th overall in a time of 32:37.
Christopher Newport University won the men's race with a team score
of 26 points, followed by Shenandoah University with 64, Greensboro
College with 70 and Ferrum at 121. Methodist University was
5th at 134 and Averett University was last at 140. Methodist's
Nasiro-Sigo Husein repeated as the individual champion.
In the women's race, CNU posted a perfect score of 15, capturing the
top five spots.
The Captains'
Amy Wampler was the individual champion. CNU's alternate
runner was sixth individually.
Mary Baldwin was second with 80 points, followed by Shenandoah at 90
and Meredith College at 99. Methodist was fifth at 118,
followed by Greensboro at 150, and Ferrum with 175. North
Carolina Wesleyan College was last at 221.
Sophomore Tiffany Garnett was Ferrum's top women's finisher.
She finished the 6K course in 30:13, good for 26th place in a field
of 59 runners. Freshman Michelle Ayers finished 29th in a time
of 30:35.
