FERRUM, Va. -- Ferrum College picked up a pair of USA South women's soccer wins, a 2-1 win in overtime over North Carolina Wesleyan College Oct. 20 at home, and a 6-0 shutout win over Averett University on the road Oct. 24.

Oct. 20 Box:  Ferrum 2, NC Wesleyan 1 (OT)
Oct. 24 Box:  Ferrum 6, Averett 0

Senior Sarah Palastro's goal 3:31 into the first OT period against N.C. Wesleyan, gave the Panthers a hard-fought win.  Freshman LaQuinta Garrett assisted on the goal.

Senior Corinne Musanti got Ferrum on the board first when put a Jessica Lively corner kick into the net with just 15 second remaining in the first half.  Reva McLoud tied the match at 1-1 in the 59th minute of play to force overtime.  The win was only the second-ever for Ferrum over the Battling Bishops.

In the win over Averett Oct. 20, Musanti had a pair of first-half goals for Ferrum, which led 5-0 at halftime.  Garrett opened scoring with a goal just 2 minutes into the match.  Jessica Lively and Natalie Olson scored for the Panthers in the 15th and 22nd minutes of play, respectively.

Musanti then scored goals in the 35th and 44th minutes, the second of which was assisted by sophomore Leigha McKusker.  Freshman Courtney Webster had Ferrum's sixth goal at the 49:09 mark.

Counting her goal in a 1-1 double-OT tie to Warren Wilson College Oct. 17 on the road, Musanti has scored four goals in Ferrum's last three matches.  She leads the Panthers in scoring (17 pts) and goals (8) this season.

Freshman GK Katie Hodkinson had a save against N.C. Wesleyan and four against Averett.  In her last three matches, Hodkinson has a 0.59 goals-against average with 11 saves.  For the season, she has a 1.93 goals-against average and a .742 save percentage in 1490 minutes in net.

Ferrum (5-9-2, 4-4 USA South) returns to action Saturday, Oct. 27, at USA South opponent Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia.  The Panthers will then participate in the USA South Tournament Oct. 30 through Nov. 3 at a site to be determined.
