Altice Named USA South Volleyball Player of the Week
FERRUM, Va. -- Senior OH
Mindy Altice
(Wirtz, Va./Franklin County) has earned her second Volleyball
Player of the Week honor from the USA South Athletic Conference for
her play in four matches last week. Altice also earned the
award Sept. 3rd after the opening week on the season.
Altice helped the Panthers to a 3-1 record last week. In 12 games,
she posted 64 kills, a .467 hitting percentage, 35 digs, four
blocks, three service aces and two assists. In a 3-0 loss to
Lynchburg College Oct. 15, Altice had a team-high nine kills with
three blocks, two digs and one service.
In a 3-0 win over USA South rival Averett University Oct. 17, Altice
tallied a double-double with a match-high 25 kills and 15 digs.
Altice also added one assist as Ferrum ended a 12-year, 30-match
losing streak to Averett.
In a 3-0 win over USA South foe Peace College Oct. 20, Altice had a
match-high 17 kills with eight digs, two service aces, one assist
and one block. And finally, in a 3-0 win over USA South
opponent
Meredith College Oct. 20, Altice accumulated her second
double-double of the week with 13 kills and a match-high 10 digs.
Also nominated for Volleyball Player of the Week was Kehsia Judd of
Greensboro College, Kasey Carpenter of Averett, Allie Wolfe of
Christopher Newport University, and Sara Yeatman of Methodist
University.
Ferrum (15-14, 9-6 USA South) returns to action tonight at Mary
Baldwin College. The USA South match-up is set to begin at
6:30 p.m. in Staunton, Virginia.
