Trailing 17-0, Ferrum opened the second quarter with a drive that
stalled just outside the red zone. Slappey's number was called
on 4th-and-5 at the Maryville 30 yard line, where he drilled a
47-yard field goal to trim the Scots lead to 17-3 at the 13:31 mark.

Maryville.
The previous record holder was Bobby Corn, who booted a 45-yard
field goal against Christopher Newport University in November of

Through Ferrum's first six games, Slappey has been successful in
four of five field goal attempts and 14 of 19 PAT attempts. He
is currently third in scoring with 26 points.
