FERRUM, Va. -- Senior Ali Davenport scored 21 of her game-high 31

non-conference women's basketball win over Bridgewater College
tonight at home.
Official Box Score:

The Panthers led 37-31 at halftime, only to see the Eagles trim the
lead to 39-37 with 16:54 remaining on a Jordan Burkholder 3-point
basket. Ferrum would then go on an 8-0 run to go up by 10 on a
layup by Davenport.
The Panthers led 70-59 with 3:54 remaining but the Eagles were not
done yet. Bridgewater went on a 12-2 run, capped by a pair of
Burkholder free throws, to cut the lead to 72-71 with 1:02
remaining. Ferrum scored the final seven points of the game
for the win.
Sophomore Tonya Wright, the 2007 USA South Rookie of the Year, had
14 points and nine rebounds for Ferrum. Kierra Parker added 10
points.
Bridgewater (2-4) was led by Burkholder's 23-point performance.
She was 5-14 from the floor but 13-16 from the line. Kristin
Bosserman and Jennifer Saunders had 10 points each in the loss.
Ferrum (2-5) will return to action January 8 at Mary Baldwin
College. That game will open Ferrum's USA South portion of its
season, in which the Panthers hope to defend the league's regular
season crown they won a year ago.
