Ferrum's Paine Named to
ESPN
The Magazine Academic All-America® District III
Team
FERRUM, Va. - Ferrum College senior
Wilson Paine
(Maryville, Tenn./Maryville) has been named to the 2007
ESPN The
Magazine Academic All-America®
District III Men's At-Large first team.

The ESPN The Magazine
Academic All-America®
program is sponsored by the College Sports Information Directors of
America. As a first-team All-District selection, Paine is now
eligible for Academic All-America.
Paine played this season in
the #2 singles spot and primarily at #2 doubles. He finished
7-13 in singles and 10-9 in doubles, and was named to the USA
South's All-Conference team as an honorable mention. Paine
earned USA South Player
of the Week honors April 3rd after having posted a perfect 6-0 record the
previous week.
Paine holds two school records at Ferrum; singles win streak at 15
matches and season singles win percentage at .882 (15-3 record in
2006). Ferrum closed out its 2006-07 season at 5-16 under
9th-year Head Coach Gary Holden.
Paine posted a perfect 4.0 grade point average through his four
years at Ferrum. He has been accepted to Harvard University's
Divinity School, and is enrolled for the fall of 2007. Paine's
academic honors while at Ferrum are listed below:

Paine is the son of Lisa
Brown and Tom Paine of Maryville, Tennessee. He is a 2003
