Ferrum's Wilson Named Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week

FERRUM, Va. - Ferrum College freshman Jon Wilson (Ringgold, Va./Dan River) has been named Baseball Rookie Pitcher of the Week by the USA South Athletic Conference.

Wilson appeared in one game last week, earning a win in Ferrum's 7-2 victory over Southern Virginia University March 27 at home.  Wilson started the game and picked up the victory by pitching six innings and allowing just six hits and two runs, both earned.  He walked none of 25 batters he faced, while striking out five.

This is Wilson's first honor this season.  Ferrum returns to tonight, hosting Lynchburg College at 7 p.m. in a non-conference game.  The Panthers take a 15-14 record into the game against the Hornets, who com e to town with a 15-10 mark.  For more information, please contact the Ferrum College Sports Information Office at (540) 365-4306.
