Beats King 11-4 in Baseball
Thomas Clubs 12th Home Run
FERRUM, Va. - Senior third baseman
Brett Thomas
(Danville, Va./George Washington) hit his 12th home run of the
season to power Ferrum College to an 11-4 non-conference baseball
victory over King College this afternoon in Ferrum.

Ferrum trailed 4-1 after five innings, then scored eight runs in the
6th inning, including a 2-run homer by Thomas. For the game,
Thomas went 2-5 with the HR, two RBI and a pair of runs scored.
Senior John Gordon
(Amherst, Va./Amherst County) got the win, pitching the sixth
inning. He allowed two hits, and no runs for his first win of
the season. Senior
Casey Davenport
(Bedford, Va./Liberty) started the game for Ferrum, scattering
eight hits over five innings, allowing four earned runs, walking two
and striking out six.
Chris Lester and Mike Torrence each went 3-5 with a double and a run
for King (25-12). Torrence also drove in a run, and Nick
DeBoard absorbed the loss for the Tornados.
Ferrum (21-15) will be back in action Thursday, April 19, at home
against non-conference opponent Randolph-Macon College at 7 p.m.
The Panthers will then host Bridgewater College Sunday, April 22, at
2 p.m. in another non-conference game.
