Softball Opens New
Facility with Doubleheader Sweep
FERRUM, Va. - Ferrum College broke in its new softball facility this
afternoon with a pair of non-conference victories over Wilson
College. The Panthers routed Wilson 11-2 in the first game,
called after five innings, and then shut out the Phoenix 6-0 in the
second game.

Senior Laura Terry (Willis
Wharf, Va./Northampton) pitched a complete game in the
11-2 win, striking out six, allowing seven hits and walking none.
Sophomore SS Lauren Rizzo (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth's) went 3-3
with a double, three RBI and three runs.
Junior OF Kryestyn Matherly (Roxboro, N.C./Person County) went 3-3
with two runs, two stolen bases and an RBI.
In the second game, senior Kim Cox (Gladys,
Va./William Campbell) pitched a complete game for the 6-0
shutout. Cox scattered four hits over seven innings,
striking out seven and walking one. Senior DH
Katie Custis (Onancock, Va./Nandua)
went 2-3 with a solo home run in the second inning.
Freshman Kelly Riffle (Laytonsville,
Md./Gaithersburg) went 2-3 with a double and two RBI.
Ferrum (5-7) returns to action March 13 with a USA South Athletic
Conference doubleheader at Peace College starting at 2 p.m. in
