Men's Basketball Players Earn USA South
Honors
FERRUM, Va. - Ferrum College had two players named to the 2007
USA South Men's Basketball All-Conference Team.
Junior forward
Cedric Jones (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) was named to the
All-Conference second team, while junior forward
Jon Godsey
(Gladys, Va./William Campbell) earned a spot on the honorable
mention squad.
Jones averaged 16.2 points and 8.6 rebounds for the Panthers this
season, shooting 52% from the floor and registering 13 blocked
shots. He had 10 double-doubles, and scored 20 or more points
nine times.
Godsey averaged 13 points and 7.6 rebounds this season, shooting 49%
from the floor and swatting 24 shots. He registered seven
double-doubles and has four 20+ scoring games.
Godsey was also named to the All-Tournament Team at this weekend's
USA South Championship.
Godsey is the first Ferrum
men's basketball player to earn All-Tournament honors since Albert
Hobbs did it in 1994, and only the third player ever to accomplish
the feat.
In Ferrum's two conference tournament games this week, Godsey
averaged 19 points and 8.5 rebounds, helping the Panthers advance to
the semifinals before losing 76-73 to top-seeded and eventual
tournament champ Averett University.
Ferrum closed out the 2006-07 season at 12-15 under second-year Head
Coach Bill Tharp, a five-game improvement on last year's 7-18
record.
